Bola Tinubu

Bola Tinubu is a business lawyer and partner at DLA Piper Africa, Nigeria, where she leads the Firms’ Corporate practice group and Board Advisory Service.

With a wealth of experience spanning over 30 years advising on corporate transactions and company law, she spearheads corporate and sustainability governance with a focus on directors’ duties, and their role in sustainability governance and accelerating ESG performance.

She is recognised as a thought leader on corporate sustainability and the governance of ESG and is a member of the Advisory Board of The University of Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership, providing guidance and content contribution to its new course, ‘Governance for a Sustainable Future’. She is passionate about the development of Directors and Executives and is also on the faculty of the Institute of Directors, U.K. as a Course Leader. She is also a DEI Specialist, having earned a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Certificate from Cornell University, and she chairs The Boardroom Africa – a pan African organisation focused on accelerating the promotion of talented African female leaders to the boardroom and supporting companies to unlock the power of diversity.

Bola is a tri-sector Chairperson leading companies in the private, public and development sectors, and is the first female African to be awarded the status of Chartered Director. She is a Chartered Governance Professional and a Harvard certified Corporate Director, and she has also been granted Fellowships of various institutes including The Institute of Directors, U.K, and The Chartered Governance Institute, U.K.

Bola was recognized by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) in 2018 as one of its 100 inspiring and influential trailblazing women from around the world for sparking real change in Nigeria and she has also recognized by the Federal Government of Nigeria for her outstanding contribution to ending gender-based violence. She is also the author of a children’s book.
