We are delighted that our alumnus Sunil Deshmukh, recently graduated from Competent Boards’ Global Sustainability & ESG Designation (GCB.D) and Certification, will be working with us to grow our presence in India.
Sunil brings over three decades of global experience in business management as a C-Suite executive, leadership coach, strategy consultant, and independent director. He is currently the Global Chair Elect at the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) – USA, the largest and most respected global association focused on advancing the finance and management accounting profession. He becomes Chairman of the Board on July 1. Sunil is also the Managing Partner at Sunil Deshmukh C-Suite Lab LL P, a boutique firm that provides executive and leadership coaching, strategy consulting, corporate training, and facilitations for individual leaders and corporates.
‘I found the Competent Boards program to be very cutting edge, and an outstanding program all around – cleverly constructed and an extraordinary lineup of global board chairs, executives and advisers with whom we could interact with. I knew right away that corporate leaders in India could benefit immensely through gaining this unique global lens on sustainability and ESG issues, to complement what they were learning regionally. I’m delighted to help facilitate Competent Boards’ growth in the region’.
Sunil has a proven track record of developing and executing business strategies as a CEO and CFO, and providing board-level oversight and governance across diverse markets, including Africa, Asia, and the Middle East and Singapore. In this role, he will help develop long-term strategies, identify and nurture strategic partnerships, and generally serve as an ambassador on the ground in India to promote the critical importance of building board competency in the face of unprecedented change and transformation. He will also act as a Strategic Advisor for the Indian market to CEO Helle Bank Jorgensen.
“We are deeply grateful for Sunil’s engagement and are thrilled to benefit from his extensive experience and insights in the region,” said Helle Bank Jorgensen, founder and CEO of Competent Boards. “While we are proud to have trained over 1,000 current and future board members, much more needs to be done to make a significant impact. The world urgently needs more leaders who are knowledgeable in sustainability, ESG, climate, and nature-related issues.”
